Pharmacy Buyer Day - Friday, October 22, 2010
Pharmacy Buyer Day was the brainchild of Beth Meese, formerly the Pharmacy Purchasing Agent
for Provena
United Samaritan Medical
Center in Danville, IL, now the Service Excellence Liason for the same hospital who came up with the idea back
in 2005.
In 2007, we at the National Pharmacy Purchasing Association (NPPA) took her suggestion and made it into a movement. We have created a petition (see below), which anyone interested in supporting our movement can sign (yourself, other Pharmacy & Hospital staff, family,
friends). In addition to the petition, we are launching a letter-writing campaign to our local congressman, and
any other Politician whose ear we can grab, to get legislative support to officially recognize both a local and a national,
Pharmacy Buyer Day.
We also suggest using any Facebook pages or other such networks that you may have, to put the link to the petition
up to encourage more friends to sign it easily. Instructions on how to setup the link on other sites is there on the
PetitionOnline page.
To commemorate Pharmacy Buyer Day, NPPA is providing Pharmacy Buyers
with the following:
- a Pharmacy Buyer Day Poster
- a Pharmacy Buyer Day Proclamation
- a Pharmacy Buyer Day article, "Why We Need Pharmacy Buyer Day"
- and lastly, a link to sign the Pharmacy Buyer Day Petition if you have
not done so, or to direct others to sign the petition.
The poster and the proclamation can be printed out to 8.5" x 11", or larger,
if you have the proper printer. Make sure your margins are set as close to zero ("0") as you can, or set your printers
to borderless.
Get Your Own Proclamation
Buyers can get a formal proclamation for Pharmacy Buyer Day from their city/state by going online and doing a search
on "request a proclamation for _______ (your city/state)." Click
on your city/state and follow their instructions. Most requests are in the form of a template
where you just fill in the blanks. Fill in your information (name, address, etc.), then copy the text of the official
proclamation by clicking on the petition icon below, then cut 'n paste the petition in the template form. Try to make
it as presentable as possible; nothing says 'turnoff' like a sloppy request.
If your local government has no online form for proclamation requests, use the blank proclamation
below to mail or email (it is suggested you do both).
There's normally no drama involved; these things are rubber-stamped every day, and normally there's no fee involved.
It takes about 3 weeks to process a request, so you have to get cracking now.
